High voltage drama by tailor in Bathinda chownk

Bathinda: High drama  near Hazi Rattan chowk, Bathinda  this Wednesday when a Gidderbaha resident, Balkar Singh, climbed a top a streetlight pole and demanded a pact with the state government over a fire safety “formula” prepared by him.
According to The Tribune, Holding a petrol bottle in his hand, he threatened to immolate himself if his demand was not fulfilled. He alleged that he had prepared the “formula” after toiling hard, but despite running from pillar to post for the last five-six years, the government refused to enter into an agreement with him over adopting his “formula”.
While PSPCL workers cut the electricity supply to the pole, Naib Tehsildar Kamaldeep Goldy tried to pacify the protester.
Balkar threw a page from the pole on which his phone number was written. Paramjit Singh, SHO, Civil Lines, called him and the Naib Tehsildar talked to him, requesting him to come down as the administration had fixed his meeting with the Gidderbaha SDM.
Balkar, however,remained adamant on his demand and said the government should first enter into an agreement with him. After around three hours, he climbed down on his own.
